Advice on Build

I'm interested in building a desktop mainly for gaming, video editing and general every day use.

I'm relatively new to all of this so I've got no idea what to get.

I don't have the first idea of what to do when it comes to building a PC myself so I've looked around a few sites and saw a couple of prebuilt ones but they all seem somewhat overpriced.

Any advice would be great guys.

1. What is your budget? 1200ish

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming/Video editing/General everyday use/internet (Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed, Far Cry etc)

3. Do you need a copy of Windows? Yes

4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? no

5. Do you need a monitor? I was planning on using my TV as a monitor but I don't mind getting one.

5a. If yes, what size do you need. I don't mind

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1920x1080/1440x900/etc.] Yes/No

6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Keyboard/Mouse/Wireless Card/Card Reader/Speakers

7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes

8. How can you pay? Laser/Credit Card

9. When are you purchasing? I'm not in any hurry

10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Dublin City Center

I left out the monitor. If you are using your tv you won't need it. There's also no keyboard as the German layout is different.

Top quality parts across the board for the most part. You should be able to get meaty overclocks on both the processor and graphics card as well. (30-40%) A quality power supply that will allow you to add a second card if you want. Could make some cuts to fit a 23" 1080p monitor in as well.

You may want 16gb's of ram as well if you are doing some heavy video editing.

No problem.

For an extra €8 this is a slightly better case. I love the look of the carbide but it only has 4 hard drive bays which may be a problem down the line if you are adding more drives. The coolermaster has 6, a slightly better build quality and comes with more stock fans and external usb's.

Probably gonna order this tomorrow.

Think I'm going to get the better case and the 16gb of ram just incase I need it down the line.

Hopefully I can put it together myself and not break anything in the process!

oh I'm also thinking of getting a monitor too, do you have any recommendations? (can stretch the budget if necessary)

You could also get this for around the same money. You would want 3 extra 120mm fans though which would be the same price as the other case.

Fans.

This is a good monitor for the money. The screen is good. The stand not so good. If you have a wobbly desk it might be a problem unless you modify the stand to be more sturdy or wall mount it.

So if I was to get the last case would i just need the 3 120mm fans or those along with the two 140mm fans you mentioned earlier?

The 140's were for the other case. I'd take 4 of the 120's for the storm or a 120 and a 140 for the cooler master.
