    When are you travelling?

With a young baby I'd be inclined to head to somewhere it won't get very hot.

Brittany is lovely but its very like Ireland with the weather. But Vannes is at the southern end of Brittany and it is really nice.

La Rochelle is lovely but its a bit of a drive down.

Take a look at this website for directions and distances www.viamichelin.com

Noirmoutier (the island) is 5 hours from Roscoff. Check it out.

Yep - very scenic and the food - oh the food!
If you like mussels then this is the place - the food!

Uber thread resurrection, but I'm considering exactly the same as above this year. We've a 3 month old at the moment, but lookinI at maybe April, so she'll be 6/7 months by then.
thinking ferry and camping/mobile home would be better than flying anywhere.
so, OP, did you make thtrip in the end?
Where did you settle on as destination?
How did it work out? Pros, cons, advice for a newbie travelling parent?

Any tips or hints from anybody else also appreciated. We're all still getting used to baby life, not sure if travelling is just asking for trouble

April is very early, a lot of campsites may not be open, if they are, the bar, restaurant and pool may not be, check their websites. It will be cold in April so you would need to a long way down for a bit of weather. We went to Carnac in May 2 years ago and it was freezing, we had the fire on every morning and night and never once got in the outdoor pool. With a young baby on such a long drive, you'll need to plan your journey, look for motorway service stations, they usually have microwaves etc for bottles. Also look for Carrefours as they are usually in a shopping center or a McDonalds. A lot of the time you wont see these from the road even though they are just off it. Google maps is easy to navigate but do it before you go.
