Hopkins vs Cloud discussion

Okay, kind of surprised we didn't have a thread on this, but considering how late people would have to stay up and the fact that Hopkins' fights can be a bit of a cure for insomnia it makes sense.

I however put myself through it and it turned out to be much more watchable than I expected. Hopkins looked a lot better than he did vs Dawson last time out, and while B-Hop claims he wasn't right for that fight at all (his shoulder injury had impacted his training), it may just be that Tavoris Cloud is a lot slower and less technically gifted than Chad Dawson.
Anyway despite that, Hopkins once again put on an exhibition. His footwork was amazingly good, using it to keep Cloud out of range for long periods, make him miss wildly and also get himself into position to land his counters, really his feet did everything for him tonight.

I know some people won't be too happy about this, Hopkins often makes for foul ridden, negative, boring fights and I can understand that viewpoint. But personally I love watching him fight. The only question now is what next for the miraculous 48 year old ?

Anyone else go through the hardship of staying up for this ?

It was a masterclass from Hopkins. His footwork and timing are unbelievable. I kind of hope he retires now and goes out on top but I doubt it. He believes, and he's right, that there's not many at the 175lbs who can beat him. I'd love to see him school Cleverly next.

175 is a terrible division. Andre Ward would go through it for a shortcut.

But props to Hopkins. He's terrible to watch and a spoiler, but he gets the job done. 48 is a ridiculous age.

Pretty good fight I thought. Admittedly Cloud has one dimension at best but Hopkins really dominated him. Cloud was broken by the end and never really looked dangerous at all.
