That all depends on what your actually looking for in a phone, good camera ,screen size ,processing power ,

Personally like the Motorola RAZR I for around 350e

But been there's a whole bunch of new super phones due out you might want to hold out for a bit

Nexus is a lovely phone, but as you probably know, it is not available to purchase to anyone living in Ireland. There is a whole thread about getting it on here & its enough to make a grown man cry

if you kept saying that you'd never get a phone.

I have the razr i, great phone. good battery life, great screen(not too huge like the sgs3), great camera.
now they just need to get jelly bean to Ireland

Definitely worth giving the Nexus 4 a shot. If Google cancel the order get something else. In terms of value for money it wont be beaten.

What about the hawawei ascend g300?
82 pound on amazon with free delivery!

I love my Nexus 4, the only quibble I have with it is that the camera is mediocre.

I guess I am biased because the camera on my old Nokia N8 (released in 2010!) is still miles better than any of the Iphones/Lumia's/Android phones.

My phone is a HTC butterfly, it really is the best phone available, although you won't find it on the European market. Highest resolution screen on any phone, 2 gigs ram, lightning fast... and it doesn't feel huge in the hand as most 5" phones do.

Can't believe this thread has got to 14 posts without someone recommending the galaxy s3, it might be overshadowed by the EperiaZ and the new HtcOne but its still the best available here and now.

Do not listen to this person.

Mine broke my heart (to the extend I just it to Envirofone as wouldn't sell it) and workmate is on his third one.

I chose it over the Galaxy S3 and regretted it. Have since gotten a Note 2 and I am delighted with it.

should one wait for the new S4 to be released ? or would it be much better then the s3?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,106 ✭✭✭SpannerMonkey

detail on the s4 will be out very soon ,( this month ) so just wait a bit and see

4 days till the s4 official announcement so I'd definitely wait till then.

Can't see it being noticeable faster than the nexus 4 though, it flies through everything, but it does get pretty hot playing a game like NFS most wanted.

I can't see the Galaxy S4 being all that much of a step up from the S3 tbh....

Posted from my Nexus 4 Bag Of Awesomeness.... :P

Yeh, if you like phones made from crisp packets... this is an alright phone, but is cheap and nasty.

Well being made from crisp packet hasn't affected its popularity much..

My advice would be Nexus 4 or wait a couple of weeks until the s4 shows up and pick up a nearly new s3

have to say i have an S3 and had an iphone and the whole " blocks the signal" "iphone having poor signal" thing is utter rubbish if anything it had better signal than my S3 (same network )
overall moving to the S3 was a very positive experience (bar battery life) i love it and can recommend it . but id still wait see what the S4 has to offer :)

I''ve got an xperia z and I couldn't be happier with it.

Yeah me too, not really sure how the current crop can be bettered. What I'm really looking forward to is the flexible panels.. maybe a 5in that flips open to 10in display?

Your opinion, and that's all it is, have 2 & they are the impeccable. No issues with my work unit on the basis of that I bought one for my own use & its a cracking phone, but again, its my opinion

The One X is pretty old at this stage anyway, I don't think someone looking for the best android available is going to get one.

Galaxy s3. Posted from my galaxy s3.

The S4 is being revealed this week and the HTC one is being launched this week. I would wait till the end of the week. You can then look at the best phones on the market and decide which one ticks the right boxes for you.

I have the S3 and its a great phone. I'm kinda leaning towards the HTC for a change this time around.

I got the Motorola RAZR MAXX online (from Amazon.es) for €380 and VERY happy with it. Amazing battery life for a good smartphone.

Have the xperia z now and very happy with it. However I got to play with a galaxy note 2 last week and would have gone for that.

The difference was I was shown PowerPoint presentations and some pdf documents on it and only then realized just how useful that size is.
