Is it just me or has it got worse this year?

They need to start throwing these retards out as soon as they yell out.

At a tee shot on a 600 yr par 5

I find it one of the most annoying things ever, drives me crazy. Especially when they usually make no sense , at least if the fools were shouting something relevant it might be bearable

In my opinion it is the PGA Tour officials that are at fault for this. By not clamping down on it, they are silently encouraging people to do it even more.

Why they don't clamp down I have no idea, what is thier logic? It's just horrible for the game.

Let them shout, they paid to get in, as long as its not during a backswing, who cares?

Totally agree, if they wanted to stop it they could easily and quickly do it by ejecting people.
I believe they are basically just happy to take money off anyone who happens to come in and dont want to risk alienating anyone. (and their wallet)

It's just Yanks wanting to be heard as usual.

I think it's just part of US golf. Doesn't bother me in the slightest.

That's the crux of the matter. Money talks. It can be funny at times but shouting get in the hole at a par 5 is nonsense.

Did someone shout "root canal" at Rory on the first tee this week?
Won't be long before it'll be heard throughout the european circuit too, unfortunately.

Was he giving the guy a wanker gesture @18 seconds? That would be hilarious, although I suspect I may be seeing something that really isn't there.

He sure was! Was a hot topic there a few weeks back.

That's brilliant. I like him more than ever now.

Just saw that he said this on Twitter:
Thanks for all the messages guys. Fun weekend. Oops on the signal to "mashed potato guy" but it gets a little annoying after a while.

And then saw this comment about it:
Is there a cooler way to be insulted than getting called a wanker by an Irishman? I think not.

    I must remember that. :D

I don't understand why people get so riled up over the 'in the hole' shouts.
It's not as if they mean it literally. Its just an American thing, what harm...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,370 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

    because its infantile and annoying?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,344 ✭✭✭death1234567

Yep its annoying as hell but the PGA don't seem to care about loudmouth moron americans. I guess they think that anything that gives the game publicity is good.

I find the shouts funny. Or moreso, I find people's reactions funny. I heard a fella shout ham and cheese yesterday. Brilliant!

Love how casual he is about it.
And then just gets on with the golf.

You know what else would give the game publicity? A golfer with an arm growing out of his ass.

Damn you people. This is golf. Not a rock concert. Go back to your shanties. :p

    Shooter is an absolute legend.

Someone shouted on a down swing of McDowell last night. Think he shouted you need a better swing than that to win or something to that effect.

IMO it's only a matter of time before someone is standing over a very important putt or drive on the last day at the death when someone creams to put them off. It will happen as this thing is just growing and growing and not nipped at the bud.

That will be the straw that broke the camels back in terms of it being stopped.

The worst part of the modern game, ESP at the Ryder Cup
    "USA, USA, USA"
Drives me round the bloody bend :( !!

I dunno, it's no worse than Irish fans singing "Ole Ole Ole" everytime there's more than four of them in a room together or while we're getting beaten 4-0...

The PGA Tour really seems to burying their head in the sand about this stuff. I've heard "Mashed Potatoes", "Pepperoni Pizza" and "Toasted Ham and Cheese" shouted at recent tournaments... it's pathetic and I wish they'd do something about it because, as somone said above, it's only a matter of time before someone shouts out one of these idiotic phrases while a player is over an important shot.

Creams! The sight of a spectator with his own little putter in hand would put anyone of their stroke! :D

    Screams!!!! Not creams :)

See last weeks' Honda Classic winner Michael Thompson's par putt at 17 in the final round.
Somebody in the green side stand screams just as he putts.
Fair play to the guy, he got the putt, but ffs

Reckon the US PGA should appoint Stevie Williams to sort out these morons.
US golf courses would quickly become quieter places.
