Renting a Car from Dublin Airport

    Hello,
Just wondering if anyone knows the most economical way of renting a car from Dublin Airport?
I had a bad experience at Christmas with the Insurance prices, they wanted around €800 for the cheapest/smallest car for 9 days! I ended up haggling them down to €400 in the end when I got there. I hardly would have spent that getting taxis everywhere!

The problem with the Insurance is down to the time of the year (apparently?), the daily rate goes up dramatically at Christmas and in the summer months
I've been told that I should do it through a car rental website search engine, rather than go directly to Hertz, or Budget etc... because the insurance at peak times will be cheaper?(I need one for 5 days in mid July)
He also mentioned something about refusing Insurance on the website and it being cheaper when I get there?
If anyone has any information that would help it would be greatly appreciated.

Just to be clear, I do want to be fully insured when I drive.

    Try carhire3000.ie

F.e. for April you can get a car for a week for 70 quid.
This includes insurance but with high excess.
Then you can buy an rental excess cover insurance at the ones like carhireexcess.ie for something about 3 quid per day.

At the end you end up with a car for whole week for less than 100 quid.
