Who pops up as a guest star in your favourite shows and makes that episode or group of episodes better as a result? They're the kind of actors that pop up as guest stars, usually for no more than a string of episodes.

    I'll start with a few.

Jere Burns (seen as Wynn Duffy in Justified and Anson in Burn Notice).

David Costabile (Daniel Hardman in Suits, Gale Boetticher in Breaking Bad and Rick Messer in Damages).

Mark Pellegrino (seen as Jacob in Lost, Lucifer in Supernatural, and recently seen in Person of Interest).

Mark Sheppard (Crowley in Supernatural, Jim Sterling in Leverage, Warehouse 13, Chuck, BSG....)

The late Kathryn Joosten seemed to pop up in all sorts of shows as a guest character.

Best known for The West Wing and Desperate Housewives, but she appeared in a single episode of (amongst many others) Scrubs, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Malcolm in The Middle, The X Files and The Mentalist. An excellent Actress who fitted a lot into her all-too brief career

The Mac Daddy of them all would surely have to be Brian Dennehy!

Always good for a one-off, always has good lines. In a ton of movies too.
