What loft do you use for sand wedge?

As per title. Changing my irons soon. Have the option of the usual 56 for sand but see a lot of guys using different loft clubs in the sand. I know it's a personal thing but what's the consensus among you all?

Wouldn't actually have a sand wedge as such , have 50 , 54 and 58 degree wedges and would use all from green side bunkers depending on how far I want ball to carry!
Although 58 would prob be used the most.

Use a beaten-up 52 Vokey when its dry, and put in a 48SW during or after the rain. Very rarely go up to the PW.

Wouldn't 48 be the angle on most standard PW?

Depending on the bunker I'd vary between 52 & 58, but more often than bit use the 58

Use my 60* LW from the bunker, have a 56 SW but dont use it from bunkers

20+ year old SW. went playing Pitch & Putt one day and bought the club on the spot. My PW is also 48, as you rightly point out, but goes 18-22 yards further (v. similar shaft length & stiffness. Can't figure that out...

56 would be my most commonly used out of sand but as others say it depends on the shot. Also use the 60 and less frequently the 52.

Titleist vokey 58' with 12' bounce, works well for me on dry firm sand but not good when its damp and wet

always use a 60 degree taylormade, just wouldn't feel comfortable with anything else

54 vokey with 8 bounce. 54 opened is high enough for me. Very seldom used unless I'm on the beach.

I have a 54 that I've been using from sand for the majority of green-side shots, but a few of our bunkers have steep faces and I'm now going to put a 58 in the bag.

    Depends on shot
56 normally but 60 for something that needs to get up quick or to a close pin

Don't carry a lob wedge, so its a 56 degree for me. An old Callaway X-Tour from about 6/7 years ago. Picked up 3 brand new for $49 each on the web about two years ago !

Having said that, anytime I do try a 60 degree from sand its almost like legal cheating its so easy, but a) I just can't make a space in the bag for a lob wedge, and b) never having used a 60 growing up, I find them difficult to use in general and reckon they cost most people more shots than they save.
But, hey, that's just me :o

60 degree wedge for me unless its a fairway bunker. An old Cleveland wedge that needs to be replaced at this stage!

In some ways, bounce is as important as loft for your preferred or go-to club for greenside bunkers. I have heard it said that you should consider not less than 8 degrees.

    58 degree

    close my eyes

    hope for the best

    curse my luck

    try again

For green side bunkers its 64 degrees for me. :o:D

It works quite well for me, I find that loft forces me to really commit to the shot, and generally avoiding deceleration as a result.
I have almost completely taken the 64 out of my game with the exception of these green side bunker shots.
There was a time where I couldn't wait to pull it out of the bag... I would use it from just off the fringe with nothing but green ahead of me... :o
    I learned the hard way

Bunker play would be a (relatively) strong point of my game.
    1. I get plenty of practice
    2. Relatively... so not setting the bar too high

Anything further out and it's usually 54 degrees.
