Not sure if this is the right place for this but will give it a go and not sure if what I want can be done.
I have my PC fitted with a xonar D2 soundcard connected to an external 5.1 surround sound. I also have a logitech g110 keyboard.
Now my question is there a wireless headset that I can use just for chat in games that has a mic and only one ear piece so I can use my 5.1 for sound and the headset for chat. An added bonus if possible would be if this wireless headset couldb connected to the headset connections on the keyboard so i can make use of the built in mute keys.
    too complicated?

If you're using chat built into the game itself, probably not in most cases. If you're on Mumble/Teamspeak/Skype then yes, you can run the two separately.

Easiest way would be a little bluetooth phone headset, but that wouldnt use the G110, to do that you'd need something with a base station. Also, the sound from them, if similar to the G510, is pretty meh(at best).

So can I can use a seperate headset for just chat? This would be for arma 3
recommend any good wireless headsets then for just chat with only one ear piece? Preferably with some form of headband as I would like to attach the tracking unit for the Trackir 5.

The only thing that comes to mind is the PC-21 from Sennheiser. It fits the bill for what you want, except that it's not wireless. I don't think you'll find what you're looking for, outside of a Bluetooth phone earpiece, like ED E mentioned, and those almost never have headbands.

If you're talking about using the in-game chat then if its anything like Arma2 then no.

If you want to isolate your chat from game sounds then you're going to have to use a voip services (Raidcall, Teamspeak, Ventrillo, Mumble)

You probably wont get anything to meet those criteria. Most one speaker headsets are **** and their size means that chances are they wont have wireless functionality and if they do chances are its terrible.

Only a bluetooth headset might meet the criteria or you could get a good wireless full headset
