Speeding Fine Summons

    Just a quick question guys.

2 weeks ago I found a summons for the non-payment of a speeding fine under my apartment door, which was addressed to my old address but had my new apartment number and complex name scribbled on the envelope.

I never got the speeding fine as it was sent to my old address I believe, and as a result I got the summons. Obviously I would have paid the fine had I got it but unfortunately I didn't.

Anyway I was wondering what the outcome may be when I explain this to the judge? Should I get a solicitor? And will I have a record or anything as a result of this? That is making me particularly anxious.

Did you change the registration of the vehicle to the new address?

    When is the hearing?

just take the letter and envelope in with u and explain the story, u prob still have to pay the fine and get 2 points but that should be it, unless u get a c*nt of a judge

That is ridiculous advice and you should not be giving it anyway. the judge has no discretion on the number of points at hearing.

Not getting "the speeding fine in the post" is so common in district courts, honestly! but you have received the summons, albeit by a "wrong address" correct? the FACT you have received it,you should explain everthing you have said here and more to the district judge, tell him your income means etc and how you happened to be there. otherwise you can employ a solicitor to talk for you.
i see cases every week, where practical district court judges, among onlookers like me,hear these cases day in day out.

an incorrect address will be amended by the judge on request.

im not giving you advice, just sharing experiences ;)
