Ive got 2 cars I, looking to buy 1.

    Car 1.

    50000 miles 08 Mondeo 1.6 petrol
    Tyres as new
    Immaculate body and inside
Due a service. Was serviced last year prior to nct. Car not driven much in the last year. Guy bought car when it was 6 months was 1st to tax so effectively one owner
When I drove it seemed a bit slow on take off and reversing. Could this be due to needing a service?? Or just due to it not getting drove much.

    Car 2
    70000 miles 08 Mondeo
Serviced at 67k miles. New pads and tyres.
1 previous female owner to seller so I would be 3rd buyer
Couple of fill ins on the back where it was obviously scratched and a dent about the size of my thumbs fingernail on passenger side
Driving this car it seemed quicker off the mark and more responsive across the board. Could this be due to a recent service??

Car 2 is €500 euro cheaper than car 1.

My delema, is do I buy car 1 get it serviced and hope the sluggishness gets fixed or go with car 2 with the extra miles, a better drive and put up with the few scratches.

What would your preference be? Would be happy to pm cars.

the mondeo is a big enough car and the 1.6 is going to be slouchy enough. Car one if it hadnt had one recently, would probably benefit from a full service, i.e oil, oil filer, plugs and air filter, possibly even fuel filter... Send a pm if you like op and I might be able to better advise you. Are they taxed on the old cc system or emissions? Is it mainly town driving you do or what? just saw the below and it looks to be a cracking example!

I assumed they both had the same engine, but definitely car 2. I wouldn't buy a car on the hope that a service would fix sluggishness. Mileage is just a number and at 5 years old, both are low. Are they keyless entry?

hi 500 euro not a lot cheaper for 20000 miles ,you need a mechanic to check these cars for you the aa can do this for you but they charge

Car one for me. A good service and a bit of hard driving for a few days will free everything right up. Old mother ba is trading hers in today with very low miles and I can confirm it is a slow car to accelerate but is driving correctly.
