Lately major comic book names have been anouncing gay characters and outing others?! Its ruining the tone of the comics and i dont think theres a need for it . . . .

Does any1 else feel this way?

Unfortunately yeah seen that in The Star a few weeks ago!! Like seriously what are they thinking, in my knowledge Judge Dredd's sexuality has never been drawn into question previously in the comics so I don't see why now the writers are all of a sudden defining it and going to great lengths to highlight him as been gay. Frankly speaking its ruined the respect and love I've had for the character!!

It seems it doesn't stop there, have you seen this:

Do you always talk to yourself?

What does that have to do with anything?

Talk to yourself? Mcgovern has stumbled into the wrong conversation I think!!
But I think that's hilarious, it even says so in the article that after 70 years of been established as a heterosexual superhero, now all of a sudden he's gay!!! This is what's getting me so annoyed, I'm not homophobic but I don't see why the writers are now changing the sexuality of pre-established heroes, just to appeal to a wider demographic of people to expand their sales!!
If they want gay superheros then just invent a superhero and establish him as homosexual but leave the current characters alone. Like i can't read a graphic novel and have the green lantern say 'God i've missed you' while he hugs and kisses another man, people don't want to see that!!!

All this just seems really wrong to me

WHAT IS WITH ALL THE GAYNESS?

Being openly gay was made illegal in megacity 1 hence the fuss when Treasure Steel dectivejudge visited from BritCity with her this is what a dyke looks like t shirt.

So what if Dredd happens to be gay, or bi doesn't change the char one bit.

That's a good point Morag, but my point is why have he's sexuality revealed at all, why not let it go on been a mystery. The writers could have done it so much cleverly, by hinting at it through what he say's but no instead they went out and made a huge bold statement by having him kiss some punk haired guy and say 'deep down I guess I always knew I was gay'. So in the future can we expect to see a naked Dredd straddling another punk male or maybe they might evolve him to sodeming male criminals as an act of punishment . . . . .

I still would not presume anything based on one panel and one page, as ever you have to read the entire episode for context.

I have would have to disagree there Morag, in fact it does chang the character . . . we are all use to a mean, bad ass, no non-sense dredd! Then all of a sudden to see him shifting the face of some young punk in a night club completly shatters that image . . .it doesnt even fit into the typical dredd context

.....Why does his sexuality have to come into it at all

i wouldnt be surprised incognito12 if we saw a naked dredd! he'd prob would be hanging around the prisons or something, i think a gay dredd is a bad move, waych sales plummit....

That's the truth science_biggot. If they want gay comic book chtrs then why not create new ones and have their own character settings instead of unjustly corrupting the age-old developed characters.

It's a disgrace that this kind of gay agenda is being incorporated into known storylines and set chtrs and overtly being pushed with no shame whatsoever.

Hetero characters have never been this blatantly used to force a point across... I mean what parent of any kid wants that pushed on their children... Let alone the merch bought that will only perpetuate gay-bashing and defamation due to lack of knowledge by parents, aunts and uncles not hip with which of them are the super-queeroes...

It's a pile of ****e...! 'Nuff said indeed!!
