Proving a company originally did the work to ensure that they now carry out repairs?

Hoping that some one may be able to help me with this...

We built an extension to our house in 2008 with a flat roof. We went for an Alkor material and rather than the builder installing it we chose to get an approved installer to do that job. This was on the understanding that we would get a warranty on both the material and installation so that if it leaked we would have no issues.

Roll on 4 years. The roof is now leaking but I no longer have the paper work for the company who installed it (yes I should have kept better records). I have the original quote but they are saying that it might not have been them to do the actual installation. Repairs are quoted at 2.6k+VAT

Is there any way that I can get the company to search their records to prove that they installed or am I effectively in a he said/she said scenario?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

How did you pay them? By cheque? By Draft? That could provide a paper trail to prove they did it.

We paid through the main builder at the time. That builder is now out of business and can't get into contact with him
