Affordable Prescription Sunglasses?

Wanted to try and avoid using the goggles next week in Andorra but it seems that Vision Express in Blanchardstown are only able to fit prescription glass into their Oakley wrap-arounds and Specsavers in the same centre can only order in some horrible sports goggles and barely carry sunglasses at all.

I refuse to pay €500 + to Oakley's marketing department, the generic wrap-around glasses they had in Vision Express for €60 were just as well made but they won't fit prescription glass to them.

So, any tips on where I could get some reasonable (€100 or less) prescription sunglasses that'd be suitable for the slopes before Sunday? (optimistic I know!)

    That's a tough one.

How quickly could you sort out some contact lenses?

You would be doing really well; contacts may be your best bet.

In relation the Oakley thing, try their website, it is a little cheaper than most of the stuff you will buy here or go talk to Sunglasses Hut (Owned by Oakley) /53 Degrees North – have a good Oakley relationship,

What you pay for with Oakley is quality a life time guarantee and some of the best customer service on the planet. A friend (Cough) ran over his goggles in his car in a car park after a day skiing. He sent them back to Oakley and this was the response.

“Thank you for returning your product even though the foam on the goggles has a car tyre imprint on them we still believe our products should have withstood this test. Please find enclosed a new replacement pair!

2 Years after this I had a pair where the foam separated after 6 years of heavy use and they were replaced with the new model for €60

Channel 4 had an interesting thing on designer glasses before: they're pretty much all made in the same factory as the generics with no difference to them but the labels so frankly, if I've paid 10 times the price the product is worth, I'd expect 9 replacements to be available.

Oakley have an incredible marketing team, fair play to them but I certainly don't want to pay for them.

I've never worn contacts before so unfortunately I don't think heading up a mountain with the intention of coming down it on skis would be the best plan!

For Oakley they make all there stuff in a factory in the uSA for themselves and don't do work for others. I wouldn't call OAKLEY designer more the best at what they do.

Dad wears contacts while skiing so it can be done if you are stuck

I use to use glasses so was in the same predicament. I didn't want to fork out for prescription eye ware so I got contacts. They worked perfect with any goggles or sunglasses. I've had laser since and would defiantly recommend it.
