SanDisk SDSSDX-120G-G25 120GB Extreme

Hi guys,

want to upgrade my old Lenovo R500 and maybe also my even older AthlonXP PC. This SSD is currently for around 83€ on dabs.ie and around 84€ on amazon.co.uk.
I would rather buy Crucial M4 or Samsung 830/840Pro but the price is above 100€.

So is this sandisk SSD worth the money? What puts me off a little is the SandForce controller and not so good reports about the sandisk support. Although buying from Amazon would lower my fears a little...well at least in the first year. Not sure about dabs or if Crucial or Samsung customer support is any better than Sandisk's.

Any opinions or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Specs seem good apart from the terrible random read figure. Not sure about reliability or customer support.

Yeah, I saw that low random read speed too (26.83MB/s). But Samsung 840 Pro does not seem to be much faster (31.82MB/s). Or am I looking at the wrong figures?

Found a different review. The 4k read values can be as low as 14MB/s. Anyway, still must be better than a 7200rpm HDD.

It's 23k vs around 95k. Will only make a difference for finding and opening small files. Sequential reads are still good.

Not a bad drive but I'd probably still go for the 840 over it. I'd take faster reads over faster writes.
