    What river?
It might help to put the river name into google and I'm sure other people have fished it will put up what works best
As for where the trout will be hiding fast moving water/rapids will hold a few trout and always cast upstream
Overhanging trees and if the em weather is too bright look for dark spots as trout hate to rise when sun is beaming on their eyes
Dry flies will be best bet
Look up fly hatches for march in Ireland on the net and it'll tell you what ones to match to your own flies
    Tight lines

    Try this
Get yourself on the water for about 10.30. Find a spot with rough fast water that's a foot or 3 deep that deepens into a longer deeper pool. Go about 50m below the fast water and sit yourself down and wait. Watch the water for signs of a hatch, which if it happens should be followed by fish taking them off the surface. Stay out of the water and no casting or splashing about. Don't go for the first fish you see, you might scare a bigger one. If you see something you want to go for diagonally cast a dry fly, Klink or such a few feet above it and let it drift down over the fish. If nothing happens cast a bit further up. If there's no hatch go home and try all that again in a week or milder weather.
    Good luck!

Yes the Baltic conditions don't help.
    We need a mild spell.
