Selling a Car - Slightly different than usual

    Right,

    I've a car that's worth approximately €800-€1,000.

Instead of just throwing it up on DoneDeal I'm thinking about selling it via a raffle i.e. 50 tickets priced at €20. It means I'll get the full grand and it means somebody will get the car for €20. I'll only be taking money from people I know or a friend of a friend. There won't be any online scam where I can make more than €1,000 off it*

*Option 2 would be to see can I sell 100 tickets. I get €1,000 and a charity gets the other €500. There's a charity table quiz coming up in the locality that it could work with possibly as I know the organiser well.

Would I be breaking any laws or would I run into any legal trouble if I sold the car this way?

    Loads of legalities!

Also, I barely buy that Easter Millionaires raffle ticket for 20 euro never mind 20 quid to win your potential banger lol

I think there are some legalities around that.
    Check the lotteries act

You could do it at a Student's union that's holding a quiz.

There are legal issues but nothing that can't be sorted..you can apply for a license to to it..
The only thing that puts a stop to it is if you raffle it off and blows up next day the punter will want a car(you could just give him his 20e back)

Lots of legalities but they must be easy enough to comply with. Isnt there something about having an element of skill involved?
The tv stations can run a money making phone in comp every day without issue.
That said, raffles for 20k cars are damn hard to sell tickets for. I think you would struggle at €20 per ticket tbh.

As has been said I know first hand there are ridiculous legalities including a record of all monies and tickets in addition to a fair draw etc etc. Great idea I have to say and I do believe you probably would find buyers for the tickets. The hassle however would be unreal for perhaps €200 extra on the selling price.

What happens if you only sell some of the tickets?

What kind of car is it?

Surprise no one mentioned ebay or car auctions
But I'm guessing you are convinced you can sell all the tickets.
You do realise once you sell a ticket your committed to the draw.

Buy a ticket for €20 to win a car worth €1k??? I know the odds are better, but I doubt many people would buy a ticket, I sure as hell wouldn't.

A guy down the country done it with his house, €50 per ticket 2000 tickets (something like that), it was in the news and I think he was forced to stop but found a loophole in the end.
