I'm in the market for a Peugeot or Eddy Merckx light steel frame 54cm road bike with Reynolds (pref 531 Pro) or maybe Columbus tubing - anything out there?

    Hi,

Sounds like an interesting project. I've a steel vitus Motobecane Le Champion (56cm). Not exactly what you're after, but maybe close. I've also a 531 Raleigh Competition. Both are racing frames, but with mud-guard eyelets.

I've plenty of parts, mainly Campagnolo nouvo Record, if you manage to find a Peugeot or Merckx frame.

    Best wishes with the search,

    Brendan

    Thanks Brendan,

It has to be 54cm unfortunately - I have a 56cm Giant CFR1 and it always feels that little bit too big, even with a shorter stem it just feels bulky going up hills etc. I'll give you a shout if I'm in the market for parts.

    Hi 245,

You're dead right - if you're after steel you'll want comfort. I'm about 5.10 and the 22.5" is a great fit with about a 100cm stem. I looked up the giant and it has similar geometry in terms of flat rather than sloped head tube. All I have in steel that might suit you is a touring frame..but that's for another day!

    Good luck with the search,

    Brendan

Hi 245, I have an Eddy Merckx MX-Leader in Columbus tubing, I think this one is the classic racing frame that the Motorola team used in the early 90's, it is not the same colour though, it is navy and it is a 54cm.

Hi here you go, there are a few scratches on it and it has a 55cm top tube centre to centre.

Anyone have a merckx in a 58-60cm by chance? Would also consider colnago or bianchi. Not picky at all.

Kavvoo, I'd be looking for €350 for the frame.
