I'm tiling a kitchen floor and the vinyl that had been down was stuck with glue, not just at the edges but most of the middle as well. Does any one know how to remove the glue or can it be tiled over?

Some of those adhesives will lift if you use something like a Spade to chip and push against it. Otherwise use a small Grinder to just Sand it away.
Don't forget to wear a mask though if using a Grinder and keep children out of the Room.

if the adhesive is tacky, paint stripper (fleetwood paint stripper) will dissolve it and you can scoop up the goo thats left. Use plenty of ventilation and gloves etc. much safer than a grinder. and certainly easier than trying to chip it off with a spade.

This, I learnt the hard way when trying to remove vinyl tiles off a concrete floor.

    For lifting/removing the old vinyl........

A large broom handled size floor scraper that a builder/labourer uses on a site to clear off blobs of dried on concrete/cement.

You can hire 1 out from a buuilders providers/hire shop for around 10 euro for a day.

    Simple and job done.
