Paintballing event

    Hi Folks

I am looking into the possibility of organising a game of paintballing with other regional groups at some stage (I've been in contact with groups in Wicklow/Kildare and Wexford) - possibly May

Would anyone be interested? would anyone be interested in helping me research the different options or organise the event?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I'll give you a hand with research and such but paintballing is most definitely outside my budget at the moment.

That would be SO. MUCH. FUN. Im trying to hand in my thesis ATM so I can't really help with research or organisation but if budget allows I'd love to go for sure.

How about Airsoft instead, I'm told it's less painful?

I went paintballing for my 30th, it is great fun but you come out the other side covered in bruises :pac:

Not sure where there's paintball around (presuming this is Dublin based, apologies if not!)

As someone mentioned it earlier, airsoft is really good fun too. and works out cheaper than paintballing usually. It can sting like a b1tch too though :D

Went once to a place out by the red cow/clondalkin direction a couple of years ago. don't know if it's still going or not.

I paintballed in Limerick before, worked out at about 30 euro a head for a party of 12 I think, but that was years ago. Hurts like a bitch too :D but it' great craic. (haha Itzy I'll be laughing like a maniac)

Prices and venues really (preferably central to Dublin or easy to get transport to)

Also I haven't a clue the difference between airsoft and paintball

this is in Wicklow afaik, there are some price estimates there but I think there are reduced rates for groups. Paintball is what it says it is, small silicone type ball containing paint, they are propelled by gas powered rifles and can pack quite a punch. A shot at long range is going to sting intensely, at close range it's its similar to a slap from a basball bat and bruising that can take up to a week to fade.
Airsoft is based on the same principle but use smaller plastic type pellets.
Some people have been known to cry.

(realistically though you would all be on the same team and set against some other random team so you wouldn't be shooting each other)

actually, it might be healthier for all involved if I was prohibited from this event. :)

When I went paintballing it was here: http://www.paintballgames.ie/paintball-kyle-grove-centre , I went with 12 people for the day event. We were divided into opposing teams with other people.

I signed us up for the €29.99: Entry, equipment and 300 paintballs. The equipment includes a helmet / facemask, overalls, gun (returned after each round) body armor which they'll say they're only for women but feck that shít take them if you can those pellets hurt like a mofo! .

The paintballs don't last pissing time and cost €10 for a bag of 100, I went through about 100 per round which really adds up over the course of a day. There is also an option to buy a box of 1000 which works out at 8.50 per 100.

Haven't gone paint-balling in ages, it's good fun but can be painful as some people (normally the ones you'd least expect :)) go ape-sh*t as soon as they get a gun in their hands and forget the rule about not shooting you from close range! My abiding memory of last time was getting shot in the palm of my hand which was quite a sting.

Have never tried airsoft sounds a bit calmer?

Me? Wearing camo overalls I can't customise or spruce up with accessories and getting hit by paint colours that will obviously clash with the outfit and possibly get under my nails?

    How about no? :)

Ok this is probably going ahead sometime in August in Bray

Let me know if you definitely want to go and what Saturday or Sunday in August would suit you

I'm asking other groups as well

Price may vary depending on numbers but will probably work out about 50 Euro
