    Hi there,

I am thinking of going travelling for about a month and a half June / July time but am on a limited budget. Was initially thinking of travelling around Europe as flight prices would be minimal in comparrison to abroad but the travel and accomodation costs once there might be slightly higher than say Asia or South America.

Would love some recommendations from people who have recently been abroad

    Cheers

If your on a budget head to Cambodia vietnam and Laos, it's so cheap stay in hostels travel by bus eat the street food( which is quiet good), I'm heading to vietnam Wednesday week for 2 months( 5th time), I've a budget of €30 for the two of us per day and most of the accommodation will be $10-$15 per day. It's a little bit more expensive in the cities to live but if you stick to your budget maybe a few € up or down you'll be grand. We fly with emirates cost us €678 each with a 9hr stop in Dubai but they give you a stop over hotel which is grand. Get the head down for awhile.

If you haven't seen either, Europe's definitely the place to start. So many great cities/towns only a few hours apart, and in my opinion, travelling around Europe on a budget for a few weeks/months should be on everyone's bucket list growing up.

SE Asia is also worth a visit, great place for drinking. South America probably more expensive and somewhere that caters for all ages.

    Have fun.

Have done a little bit of both so not sure which to do! Was half thinking of taking my bike and heading over to Europe and doing one of the cycle routes but am a total amature on the bike so not sure how fit and able I would be!

    Hi Pinkie,

2 years ago, I did a 2-week Cosmos tour, which was incredible:
    tour group 30 people
1st week - southern Greece by tour bus (start & return Athens)
2nd week - cruise ship to Istanbul and the major Greek Islands

Istanbul is the greatest city in the world to visit (ask anyone).

A great way to see Europe is to buy an Interrail pass, the train network spans across the continent. It's an amazing experience and if you are traveling during the summer you will meet many fellow travelers.

Went interrailing for about 5 weeks in 2005 and had an absolute ball. Managed to fit in Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague, Krakow, Budapest, Ljubljana, Hvar, Dubrovnik. Bar one, the hostels were all great and the train trips flew in, even the 9 hour ones. Would highly recommend Krakow and Ljubljana/Lake Bled

Did the interailing thing back in 2000 clearly many moons ago! Loved it though. Very heavily leaning towards cycling around Europe has anyone done this. Would possibly be travelling alone for some if not all of the time so not sure how wise it would be but it would definitley save on travel costs!

It is worth fair bit of research before you decide what to do, as there are a lot of rail options beyond the Interrail ticket this year.

For instance the Germain railways offers unlimited travel on regional trains for as little as 22 Euros a day. Combining that with the bicycle might be an interesting and cheap way to exploring Germany.

In Switzerland, Swiss railways offers as much as 60% of super saver tickets. And in Italy super economy tickets are available for as little as 9 Euros!!!

So lots of possibilities out there to decide from.

The accommodation costs also do not have to be that high. I'm from Germany and in the last summer I did a travel through Austria and Italy, staying in Vienna, Venice, Pisa and Rome. Bed&Breakfasts and Hostels often have group rooms where a night only costs around 10-15€. But if you prefer a hotel, you can have a look on sites like this Trivago or booking.com - could also be a solution. Since February '13 it is also allowed to travel buses to offer transport in Germany - so the "Deutsche Bahn" has not longer a monopoly. This companies already offer tours from e. g. Cologne to Munich for 19€.
In the summer I want to go to Ireland, that's why I joined this board, and I hope I will also get so much useful information.

So think I have narrowed it down to cycling around France flying in to Paris and heading over on the cycle routes with a plan of cycling down the coastal route to Biarritz. Am most likely going on my own so wondering if people know if it is safe enough to do so? Obviously wouldn't be cycling a night but would love to know if anyone else has done something like it before?

    Cheers

Hey is it better to go travelling Europe by yourself or with friends. Im leaning towards goin by myself because it seems like it has more adventure to it but am wondering would it be hard to find people outside that would have the same craic as your friends. Thoughts?
