Wrong Price Advertised Online

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering what is the story with a website advertising something at the wrong price?

Yesterday I came across a 51 inch Plasma 3D TV on a reputable Irish website advertised at €6.49 after tax. I know this was clearly done in error, but I am not gonna let an oppurtunity like this slip me by (especially on my wages!) :-P

So I bought the TV, money came off the card, received the order confirmation email stating order processed and that I shall be informed of expected delivery time.

The mistake has been noticed as the website has now been corrected, with the TV now advertised at €649 before tax.

Has the company the right to not honour this purchase? I am aware of the invitation to treat clause, but does that come into play now that I have the order confirmation with the product description etc stating that order processed?

Yes they have the right not to honor it as it's an obvious pricing mistake and you intentionally set out to abuse it.

Just been done on The Ray Darcy show with Conor Pope.Upshot is that no they dont have to honour the purchase, think the reason is that even though you have the confimation,no money has changed hands.

A hold was placed on the card. The company never took the money. No contract was made.

It's in there terms and conditions that they can cancel orders.

    Hi,
They don't have to honour it as it's stated in their terms and conditions that if any item is priced in an obvious error then they reserve the right to cancel the transaction.

99%+ of the time they will not honour it. But Pixmania did honour my purchase of a blu ray player for about €1, €16 with delivery. I have seen a few other ones honoured before too. Probably for goodwill & free advertising. I also had bought several things before on that account before this.
DESCRIPTION UNIT PRICE Quantity Total vat excl.

    Philips BDP3000/12 Blu-ray Player € 0.87 1 € 0.87
    ****** - € 0.09 1 € 0.09
Total number of your products sold by Pixmania € 0.87
    Delivery costs € 12.31
    Total vat excl. € 13.27
    VAT € 2.79
    Total to pay € 16.06

had to post a photo of it for people to believe me!
