Assuming this is true (!!) it's the right decision, and in many respects the obvious decision, but credit to Kidney for making it at least. It would be a bit of a shame if ROG's last act in an Irish jersey was the crap pass to Marshall that ended the game v Scotland, but there's not room for sentiment

Everyone is retweeting a tweet from @IndoRugby, but when I went onto their account the tweet wasn't there...

Absolutely atrocious decision. Madigan is unproven, Sexton is injured, and Jackson can't kick for goal anyway reliably.. To drop ROG, especially has he had a decent game last night, screams a coach who is running out of ideas. if ROG is gone Kidney should follow.

Give Madigan a chance to prove himself?

Totally agree, but for a completely opposite reason

The second tweet down is something about Enda Kenny planting a tree somewhere which, if true, is sensational news and will rock boards.ie to its very foundations...

    What a bizarre post.

    1. Dropping ROG is a brand spanking new idea.
    2. He had his first decent (and no more) game in a long while against a poor Ospreys side. He still has major deficiencies in his game.
    3. I want Kidney gone as much as anyone but the dropping of ROG is a mark in his favour if anything. Would you like to see the result of the game maybe first?

I don't believe it. Obviously it's the correct call but I don't believe kidney would do it.

I agreed with not starting him, but not dropped..
His recent games haven't exactlly been bad, no worse than Jackson has been having.

If ROG i dropped, do we put Madigan as a sub with a starting jackson.. after last week?..

    Unless Johnny is fit?

If true and assuming it's Madigan, thankfully no Rabo games for the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,681 ✭✭✭✭P_1

Right call, these matches have nothing riding on them, we know ROG doesn't have much gas left in the tank, perfect chance to build up some strength in depth in key positions.

    of course.
If Johnny is back, then Jackson becomes sub and in that scenario I can understand it.

    Whats this about The Bull?!!

Jackson had a very good game last week kicking aside. Madigan has been playing superbly too.

ROG has been shocking recently, he had one of his better games last night but he has not been able to justify his selections.

Sexton being fit is the most likely explanation.

He was ok last night but poor for several games before that. The only problem with Jackson was his kicking but he got 7 from 9 last night so that's that.

ROG played well for his standards last night, but he should be nowhere near the team.

Considering how quickly the tweet was deleted, there's no point in getting worked up about it.

Haven't seen it yet myself. Although surely in this case there wouldn't be smoke without fire?

Maybe they were asked to keep it hushed for some reason

Or maybe it's just the Indo getting it wrong.

You can't put up something on Twitter and delete it five minutes later expecting people not to notice...

The delete of the tweet either means the IRFU hit back and forced the deletion.. or it's in fact not true at all and sources ****ed up big..

I wouldn't be surprised if he has an injury, in his warm up last night and after one of his kicks at goal he was rubbing his thigh. Prior to the squad coming out for warm up I was watching, ROG, Keatley, Sheridan and Williams go through their routines and thought ROG was a doubt.

noticed myself, during the warm up ROG was the last of the kickers to come out, and on the teams entrance to the stadium, Keatley was talking a lot to Penney with ROG talking a lot to the physio

    source: Steward in Thomond myself

if true, what an ignominous end to the career of an all-time Irish rugby legend, he's gone out on rather a low which is a shame for one of our greats

Indo now offically confirming ROG out but Jackson still in squad...
