Now that HMV has shutdown, where is a good place to get newly released blu ray films in Dublin City center?

The general consensus is nowhere or an Internet cafe where you can order online.

It's ironic that vinyl records are now easier to obtain in Dublin than the newest disk technology.

Golden Discs? There's one in the Jervis Centre.

Vinyl is to mp3's what Blu Ray is to VHS, I love it!

Yeah, since HMV shut down, my accessibility has become limited as of late. The only place I know of where I can get BD's is the Xtra Vision in Ennis and even then, they really don't have what you want. Is there any other store in Limerick that sells them?

I actually overhead an XtraVision employee telling a customer that they only get blurays in for the biggest films or ones with the most special effects. Shame really. Not being from Dublin, it looks like I'll be moving towards buying more from Amazon now.

Limerick has no better a range than Ennis now. Xtravison, Tesco etc are all that sell a limited range in Limerick.

Golden Discs in Clonmel or Cork would be the music/film stores closest to Limerick.

I tend to get most of my films and music from the likes of Amazon now (prefer to have a physical edition than a download) or I get them when I go back to Liverpool.

Has anyone noticed that since HMV reopened in Henry St that their Blu-Ray selection is lesser than what it was before they closed? I went in there a few days ago and couldn't find anything I was looking for. A poster on another thread said that HMV Ireland are simply using XtraVision's supplier which would explain their sparse stock.

For example: I want to buy Lawrence of Arabia and Bridge over the River Kwai on blu-ray. HMV have a few blu-rays in a "Three for €20" deal but the selection is woeful and while Henry St have a few of the Sony class blu-rays they don't have these. I also couldn't find Die Hard on blu-ray with the 'Decoding Die Hard' documentary that was in the anniversary boxset. I'm hoping they get in more stock closer to Xmas but I doubt it at this stage.

I think in general shops here have been slow to fully adopt the technology. Pity really as I prefer to buy locally while not being ripped off. Online is probably the best place to buy this medium.

Yeah retailers in general haven't jumped behind Blu-Ray as they did with DVD but neither have consumers which is understandable but also there aren't that many shops anymore. HMV Garfton St had a great selection of blu at decent prices. Does anyone know ie HMV Dundrum has more stock than Henry St?

Tower is way overpriced. Golden Discs reopened in Stephen's Green and they have a bit of a better array of Blus at decent prices (Bonnie and Clyde at €10 for instance and they had some Batman steelbooks)
