Can anyone recommend somewhere in Dublin to fit a new CPU fan to my Vostro 1700?

I already have the replacement fan so just need someone to fit it.

    Thanks in advance.

    Youtube, five minutes, done.

What fan/cooler is it? If it's a stock one it's very easy to do.

    Yeah, it's a stock one.

If it was my car, I'd jump at it with the spanners but the Vostro doesn't seem to be the easiest to work with. There's no panel directly over the fan, everything has to come off by the looks of it.

Ah, it's a laptop fan. Dell has very good assembly/disassembly manuals online. They go through exactly what you have to remove for each component. I'd do it for you, but I won't be up in Dublin for quite a while.

Right, well this wasn't the easiest to find, but here you go:

    ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-1720_service manual_en-us.pdf

Wow, many thanks. Might give it a lash in the morning so.

    I've a 1000, they're like the inspiron 1500s, simple as hell.

Take your time and you wont have any problems :)

Cheers. I've replaced RAM before with no issue and I'm happy to take spanners to the car. This shouldn't be too bad I guess.

You should be fine, there's not a whole lot to it. Give me a shout if you're stuck though.

    Thanks very much.

Just connected to the FTP site now. There doesn't seem to be a Vostro 1700 specific manual on there but I did run into this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8TC3yYdSYY

The Vostro 1700 is virtually identical to the Inspiron 1720 except for the colour. So if you can find one for the 1720 it'll be fine too.

The file I linked to covers the 1700, 1720, and 1721, if I'm not mistaken.

You're right, I'm still getting to grips with FTP. When I connected through FileZilla it brought me out to the full directory listing, it's been a long week. :o

Thanks again for all the help.
