    Hi Folks

Just checking to see if anyone know what the road conditions are like up around the Sally Gap.

    Many thanks

    Looking at this: link ...

I'd say it will be cold ;)

I suspect there is still lots of unmelted snow from last weekend that will remain unmelted for another while yet. Last time I was up there was October and I'd say I won't see it again on the bike for another month or so ...

Was up there a couple of times in January which was blustery but fine otherwise, but don't fancy any amount of ice coming downhill. Might check it out tomorrow midday, and turn back if looking dodgy.

(And ask santa for a CX bike next year)

A friend cycled over Sally Gap today with a group en-route to Carlow. Here's his report.....

    "Perfect...all snow gone....Super downhills...lovely weather.."

    It sounds grand !

Was up there yesterday afternoon. Was perfect albeit there was a lot of debris on the road up by lough bray.

No snow, no ice, roads were as dry as a bone.

Fantastic up there today; sunshine and next to no wind. Been a long time since it was so balmy.

Today was cold, very cold but roads were ideal.

I crossed over Sally Gap about 7pm last night- clear, dry, dark and cold. No surface water about so nothing to freeze for the moment.

I was a bit worried by all the hoodies with spoiler assisted cars waiting in the car park just past the waterfall on the Military Road. I kept looking behind expecting to see amateur Colin MacRae's flying past.

Anyone ever had an issue with this?
