Our local senator, Martin Conway, is on with Tubs later tonight. I thought RTE had shows like SlimeTime for this sort of stuff?

What's he going to be speaking about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,585 ✭✭✭✭Lady Chatterton

Martin Conway was the first visually impaired person to be elected to Seanad Eireann (2011) so I would imagine he will be talking about his journey to Kildare Street and the challenges he encountered along the way.

He was born with congenital cataracts which means that he has only 16% sight and is registered blind. RTE Radio 1's Documentary on One made a programme about him last year - 'Blind Ambition'.

They have changed 3 of the Dragons this year. I'll miss Gavin.

So it's Government schmoozing & RTE self-promotion so far.... looking like a great one alright!

Don't worry Cofy, Gavin has gone nowhere, he is still a Dragon :) He has been joined by some new Dragons - Ramona Nicholas, Barry O'Sullivan, Peter Casey. Sean O'Sullivan will be back this season too.

He is a member of the Fine Gael party so I doubt he'll stick his neck out to criticize his own Liz, he was pretty quiet at the time of the other disability cuts (Respite Carers Grant) too.

Just over from the Cycling forum. It appears Cycling Ireland are trying to confirm Martyn Irvine (New World track Cycling Champ) as a guest on this evening.

Worth a look if he is on. Tubs did a pretty good job with Walsh and O'Reilly on the Armstrong confession. Doubt he knows too much about track cycling but it would be interesting to hear how Irvine manages to train/compete with relatively small support from the Sports Council. Not taking a swipe at funding levels (everyone is struggling of course) but genuinely how does a professional athlete make a living from this?

No such thing as a "local" Senator, he is (at least in theory) part of the Administrative Panel and represents everyone. Of course, in reality, the Senate's a place to sit and hope for a Dail seat, hence the dozen references to Clare on his homepage. And a photo of Ennistymon Falls.

I'd gladly watch this even if all Mila Kunis is doing is watching paint dry

Anyone who didn't see Graham Norton last week with Saoise Ronan, John Malcovich and Richard Gere- it's really worth a look on the e player. Best example of a good laugh in entertainment show. TLL take note.

    *rant- (ish) over. :)

Expect McGinley to be pacing up and down beside Rory Mcllroy at the next Ryder Cup roaring, "Pull on it for fcuk sake, will ya pull on it!"
