Please help! Sky On Demand with Eircom

    Not sure where this should be posted. I am trying to connect Sky On Demand through Eircom Broadband with no success. The TV picks up the Eircom signal but does not seem to accept the password. Message reads "check your broadband settings and PIN no". I have spoken to SKY twice. I have been on the phone for 30 minutes to Eircom but to no avail. I have typed password in lower case, as per Eircom, and the password works fine on all other broadband gadgets in the house.

    Sorry if this is in wrong forum, if someone can re direct me , thanks.

    are you connecting via wifi or an ethernet cable? (or more specifically, if using wifi, how are you connecting to the box)

    Am connecting via Wifi, or trying to. The on screen menu shows the Eircom signal being picked up (as well as my neighbour's). However when I enter my PIN no the message comes back to check settings and password. I have contacted Eircom and the password is correct and have tried in lower & upper case. The Eircom engineer thought the security settings might be set too high?

    I have tried entering the following http://192.168.1.254 to check this but i get a pop up message from Windows Security. The eircom rep said that i should not be getting this message....

    I had the same issue with the Netopia router and I believe it is due to using WEP security settings. Try changing the security settings as on my new router it connects with no problems through WPA2

    For a test you could turn off wireless security and see if it works then. As said the 192 link will allow you to change settings etc.

    It is not recommended to have no password and any password should be more than 8 letters/number and WPA2 instead of WPA. WPA is not safe.
