Down the line I'd like to install a media server that'll handle my existing content plus Saorview/sat and possibly Netflix and the like, but I haven't done enough research into this yet so I'll be sticking with the PS3 and ps3mediaserver for the moment. Tips welcome of course, even tips in the right direction!

Not a thing with what you have already. At best you can delay some charges. Anyway that can't be discussed here.
You can use the equipment for saorview.
