We have rented this apartment twice in the last four years, not the cheapest place you will ever rent but the complex is gated & very nice

The beaches here are sandy & long but narrow, it's about 15mins walk to Juan les Pins, 10mins to Golfe Juan, both along the beach, bus stop close by to take you into Antibes old town in one direction, Cannes in the other, both about 10mins, Train to get you to Nice takes about 30mins

    Supermarket next door to complex
Food & drink swings between reasonable & extortionate depending on where you go
    August will be HOT

    Any Q's, feel free

nice and cannes are real expensive dumps with horrendous beaches in the summer. go further west like sete or cap d'agde, leucate, (although you don't need to go that far). Bandol is lovely also and in that general vicinity.

Have a look at Biarritz and Bayonne, it's a lovely area great beach and fantastic vibe really chilled out loads of bars, France will be expensive in August anywhere you go, but the south will always be that little bit extra....

We've gone to Portiranges Plage near Beziers several times. A really nice place.

Head an hour or so around the coast into italy. Holiday town called Alassio.....magnificent and much cheaper than france. Another hour into the mountains is the village of Apricale which is one of the seven most beautiful villages in Italy......google it, seriously beautiful.

    Lenny lou lou

Shrapnel has mentiuoned Leucate. We have been going there for ten years and part own a ground floor flat there(half a house really , the french call it a rez de chausee.) We do rentals. The village sounds exactly what you have asked for. a rental car is essential. Fly via Carcassone, or Girona(Ryanair) or Perpignan (aer lingus)

Pm if you want more details

Moliets et Maa, about fifty minutes north of Biarritz is a beautiful place to visit.
Fantastic beaches, a decent amount of bars and restaurants but not too busy with lots of cycle ways through the local forest if that is your thing or a very good golf course if you prefer that.

Can you recommend anywhere to stay near Moliets that's got entertainment for a 5yr old ?
    (communal pool, kids club etc.)

    Thanks.

There is a holiday village in Moliets with the usual pool etc,
We stayed there for one night only but wasn't over impressed with it to be honest.
To us, Moliets is all about the beautiful beach there and the holiday village is a short walk from it.
There is a very decent looking camp site near the beach in Moliets Plage as well so that may be worth checking out. We never stayed there so I can't give you any personal experience of it.
I am not sure what facilities it has but they often have a pool and usually have kids activity clubs. Some of our best family holidays were ones spend on French camp site, usually staying in their gites as distinct from actually camping.
