Irish IHT for Non Residents???

    Hi all
My mother passed away a few months ago and I am acting as executor to her estate.
She had a single investment in an Irish domiciled managed fund (Invesco) which I need to sell.
In to sell the investment I need to get Irish probate and I have had to apply (via an expensive lawyer)for Irish (PPS) tax numbers for myself and my brothers who are beneficiaries - and even one for my late mother.
Neither my mother, myself nor any of the beneficiaires are or ever have had any tax connection with Ireland whatsoever - all there is is this one Irish managed fund investment.
Seems a bit crazy to have to go through all this bureacracy when none of the parties is an Irish tax payer but I can live with that.
What I am concerned about is that the lawyer has suggested we may need to pay Irish Inheritance tax on the asset - even though none of us has even been to Ireland (much as I would love to one day).
Surely non resident and non domiciled individuals cannot be subject to Irish IHT ?
    Any thoughts anyone?

Irish situate assets are subject to Irish tax regardless of the domicile, residence or ordinary residence of the beneficiary.

If you have come here looking for advice to overturn your (expensive) lawyer I am concerned about why you are paying him in the first place if you think you know better.
