Class 1 CAA, Colour vision CAD fail

So I have been to the CAA in gatwick today and failed the colour vision test, 1st the ispharia plates and then the CAD test. Now I no that its probably the end of the line with regards commercial flying is concerned, but it was mentioned to me by a forum member here , Rob (who has been very helpful in the lead up to today) about another test in America and Canada the signal gun test. Does anyone know Any more about this, or any other alternative ideas ? Is Australia the same with regards colour vision testing?
I was sure I would have a chance of passing the CAD test as I already knew I wouldn't pass the ispharia plates, but it seemed their was a problem with the colour red. The colour issue has never really affected me before but obviously their is an issue with it.
All other parts of my medical were passed with flying colours so I am gutted.
    Thanks!

Have you tried the Holmes Wright Lantern test here in the aeromedical clinic? All is not lost yet, give it a go. I failed Ishihara and passed the lantern test and im now in the middle of my ATPLs. I also feel your pain, its more common than you may think, affects 1 in 12 males. If you cant find any info on the HW lantern test let me know and ill write a detailed explanation when i get some time.

    Thanks,
ya I have heard about that lantern test alright. im open to correction but I think the CAD is even after that, in terms of if you fail the lantern test then the CAD is your last chance saloon as they say as it determines if your are colour safe or not.

Yeah maybe it does come after but what determines which order you take the tests in? I was automatically referred for the lantern test after failing the Ishihara during my class 1, I had an idea I was colour deficient after I took a test as a kid, as you know yourself it's something that you might not detect in your lifetime until you go for a job that requires a test. If its something you really want to do I would definitely suggest giving the lantern test a go. I'm not too sure what exactly the CAD test involves but the lantern is literally a box that shines two coloured lights at a time and you determine what colour the lights are, a lot easier than the Ishihara.

Is there an online version of the CAD test? Maybe I could take it and see if I pass or not! If I fail, it would give a bit of hope that people who pass the lantern also fail CAD.

It's the exact same as this except it goes on for 15 mins and is harder than this one. I got nearly all of these but the CAD is a bit more severe.
