Just want to run this by you guys before ordering.

Looking to get an ASUS HD 7850 Direct CU II 2GB

    System specs are:

    XFX Pro Series 450W
    Asrock B75 Pro3-M
    Intel Core i5 3470
    4GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz (Will add another 4GB)
    500GB Seagate HDD
    24x Samsung DVD writer

Should the 450W PSU be enough to power the 7850 and everything else?

Easily. That system will use under 200w full load.

I use pcpartpicker for calculating general PSU usage.

I entered your specs in and it's 296w, check it out here:

    Cheers lads.

Actually found a pretty good deal on a VTX3D 7870 Black edition, would my PSU still be up to the job. I've checked some wattage calculator sites and it seems to be ok, just want to hear some opinions.

I think that comes to just over 300w, so you'll be fine.

I've never heard of this card manufacturer before, being new to PC building but it seems to have a good rating on scan.ie

How much did you see it for w/delivery? Just had a quick look on Amazon & it's €216 w/ delivery there. Just asking because I'll be in the market for a gpu soon!

VTX are a sister company of Powercolor and Club3d so they should have a pretty good pedigree (All owner by the Tul Corporation).

The Black edition is a Tahiti version of the 7870 I think, very nice card T0mmyM .

I was going to order from here

    http://www.factorychoice.ie/en/search?orderby=position&orderway=desc&search_query=7870&submit_search=Search

However all their prices seem to have suddenly jumped up

The VTX3D black edition was €170 delivered last time I saw it

It' still down as €171.58 w/ shipping. The HIS 7870 IceQ X is there too for just €5 more, I'd probably prefer that myself.
I've never heard of this website, is it too good to be true, has anyone ever used them before?

Edit: The reason it seemed so cheap & the reason the prices suddenly jumped for you is because when you sign up & log in, the prices add the tax on. Oh well, knew it was too good to be true lol

For the VTX3d card I'm looking at it says 162,59 € tax incl before I even go to the checkout.

When I try to log in and order it it magically goes to €195...

So i have no idea what else they're adding on.

    Shipping?

    Shipping included in above prices.

No phone number even to ring them.

It says €162.59 when I'm not logged in but as soon as I log in it gives all the correct prices. It says tax incl. but it doesn't actually add the tax until you log in.

Correct price tax incl is €195.11 + €8.99 delivery.

Yeah, very annoying. Fired off an email just for the sake of it anyway.

Jarren, by posting that information you are attempting to identify a user's real-life name and details and then disseminate that information in a very public place. Regardless of whether the info you linked was correct or not you're not allowed to do that without the user's consent.

Ok so I received the graphics card this morning (Went with the 7850 in the end)

Installed the latest Beta drivers. Everything seemed to go fine.

Ran GPU Tweak and bumped up to core clock to 1000Mhz. Didn't touch memory or voltage.

During gameply, I can notice a faint horizontal flickering. The image quality is perfect, however there's just a faint flickering in the background.

I suspect the issue is that I'm using a D-sub cable as it's all I have handy, which is suffering from interference. Will be receiving a DVI and HDMI cable this week. Just hoping it's not a GPU fault.

Sounds like screen tearing to me... happens with all cards. Enabling vsync gets rid of it mostly but your fps is capped to your refresh rate and it causes mouse lag.

It's a fairly old LCD monitor aswell in fairness. Plan from the beginning was to game on the 40 inch so it's not an issue really.
