this started last night on syfy it was pretty ok, lots of set up and introducing of characters and bits of drama in the first ep just one match at the end of the show i hope there atleast two fights each week

its different to battlebots because all the robots are made for them with only slight differences, each team has a fighter and tech person, mostly.

its not that far off real steel, they have one team member sitting down controling movement and another one has exoskeleton arms they can swing for the robot to follow their movements, the robots held up with bar trailing behind them with also gives them their commands, power, hydrolics etc

points awarded for good clean hits, they set off sparks on the robot for effect to show good hits, but the robots can get damaged, their armor can fall off or open spots can be hit and hydrolic actuators can be broken, which then spew fluid everywhere and results in loss of movement.

good interview here with the designer here who had to make concious decision what he was going to allow to be breakable on the machine http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/02/26/robot-combat-league-syfy-mark-setrakian/

Started watching this. All I can say is that I'm glad I won't be watching it live. There's just waaayy too much filler and not enough fighting. With Episode 1, the first fight didn't take place until about 25-odd minutes in, out of a 40 minute run. They should mimic Robot Wars, which was the perfect balance of fights but with the human element too.
