Pint, bottle or can... Bud always tastes watered down. It's gross!

I can only assume they were trying to create a homeopathic hangover cure.

    No. Just no.

Besides, budweiser is 90% piss content. So there's bound to be some water in there somewhere.

OP can you explain this, i'd love to know how the pubs water down pints??

The only thing I hate more than Budweiser is people who are ever so pleased with themselves that they only drink "craft" beers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Each to their own but Budwdeiser is just so.......bland. There's nothing to it, it would be like someone saying their favourite musician is Lonnie Donnegan.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 25,234 ✭✭✭✭Sponge Bob

Bud is pisswater and always was. Coors is worse, it feels like drinking soap. I have been subjected to these abominations at 'festivals' in the past. :(

Anybody in Ireland stupid enough to sue Bud for watering down their pisswater deserves to be countersued by Bud for not being able to tell the difference. :D

Even if the suit is successful it will still be pisswater. :D

How dare you. Without Lonnie Donegan there'd be no Beatles, Stones,Kinks yada yada.

I like most beers but Budweiser is horsepiss. I didn't think they could water it down anymore!

I usually drink Heineken, Guinness, Paulaner or Pilsner Urqell, but I have start drinking coors light too which is actually quite decent for american shite!

Steamwhistle from Toronto is savage, but you can only get it in Canada.

And you are fully entitled to love it if you so choose. You should know however that Budweiser is truly dreadful mass produced ****e as far as beers go. Brewed to low standards with the objective of putting out a low quality product. Its popularity is a product of brilliant marketing and a long period of limited choice in the Irish Market. You and everyone else deserve better when it comes to beer!

Exactly and when you're 16 and taking your first sip of beer in a back field somewhere Budweiser is fine - in fact its probably all you can drink because its so bland and tastes of water. However, like music did, as you grow so do your tastes and something that was once all you could stomach now tastes like cat piss.

Bud doesn't taste bad, it just tastes like nothing. Incredibly bland and very little flavour at all. Doesn't surprise me it's watered down.

So how do they sell pints at the same price as bottled beer? It wouldn't be economically viable to do so

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 9,689 Mod ✭✭✭✭stevenmu

Watering down is a fine tradition in beer making. Historically many of the finest beers have been brewed especially strong so that they can then be watered down afterwards (and the same is true of many wines and spirits).

The real core of their argument seems to be that it's advertised as being 5% alcohol, but they claim it is actually less. I'd imagine it'll be easy enough for some lab to do some tests and sort the matter out.

I'd prefer to drink nice enjoyable beer and be pleased with myself for it, than to drink p*ss like budweiser and hate myself for it :)

If Lonnie Donegan is Budweiser, what beer is One Direction?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,355 ✭✭✭gallag

****ing hipsters. I only drink craft beers that most people dont like so I am better than you. Bud is nice, far from piss at 5%, Carlsberg is piss and tasts like water at 3.8%. I still drink Carlsberg every sunday as its perfect for drinking from an early kick off and not sitting in a puddle of your own piss by 6oclock. I also like airdinger, duvel etc but more if I am out late and only having a few

People are willing to pay extra for beer in bottles so their price is highly inflated, it's even more highly inflated than the price you pay for beer from the tap, which is itself in turn highly inflated from the price you will pay for a 6-pack in Tesco.

What in gods name....? If anything bottles are sold at extortionate prices.

I work in a pub and trust me, it would be extremely difficult and counter productive for pubs to water down kegs. It just doesnt happen. Complete myth.

Oh my, I can feel the realness coming through the screen at me.

If someone reckons a saloon Merc is a better car than a Ford Ka are they being hipster? If you think a 5 star hotel offers a superior experience to a hostel are you being hipster?

Sometimes certain products are made to a higher standard than other products. That's life. If noting that and seeking a higher quality product is "hipster" then I can live with that tbh!

I haven't tasted it in about 8 years but if I squint my mouth the right way, I can still remember how shlte it tastes.. And this isn't bandwagon stuff, I'll drink near any beer but it.

Smirnoff Ice. Its hugely popular and it gets young teenage girls all excited and screamy, but it won't be long before they move onto something else.

There's nothing hipster about drinking nice beer, which budweiser isn't.

Hah! I like a thing and because other people don't like it they're "hipsters". Hopster is the new catch all phrase for anyone who likes anything that's mass produced and shoved down their throat every ad break is it?

Carlsberg has a much stronger flavour than Bud and both are 4.2% here?

1, You have never worked in a pub.

2, You don't own your own business.

I always thought it was the other way round. Budweiser's market is people who like a small hint of beer with their cold, carbonated water. Wimin like it.

lets append that by saying that I don't own a business in the brewery or the sale of alcohol

    Wrong.
    He's right, depending on where the pub . . .er. . .sourced. . . .their stock. :)

Also just to point out that "hipsters" in Williamsburg are famous for drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon, a notoriously bland and cheap beer.

So if you're going to hurl around the H-word at least try and get it right.

They're sooooo beyond craft beers dude.
