I'm due an upgrade in a few weeks, I had my heart set on a Galaxy Note 2 but now comes the HTC One on the horizon . I'm torn between them now.
Bear in mind I'll be taking this upgrade on a 24 month contract. Which handset should I choose.

Well... The new galaxy note has been announced, so the note 2 is already out of date. The new one is 8 inches, so its really really really massive.

the HTC one is supposed to be awesome. I friend of mine has used it and is convinced it is the greatest phone ever...

my phone is a 5 inch butterfly. And while it is super quick and a joy to use, the 4.7 inch screen of the one seems ideal.

I might be wrong but the new 8" device you're referring to is a tablet with phone call capabilities. Thanks for the info though.

The new Note (phone) hasn't been announced yet and probably won't be until mid to late Summer. Only a new Note tablet, as said an 8 inch version to go with the 10" Note tablet launched last year.

The Note 2 is a really great phone if you don't mind the size. S-pen and multi-window capability are very useful.
Its far better than the HTC One in all hardware and software specs and the battery life is significantly better.

The GS4 is announced on 14th March, so if you are prepared to wait until mid April (at a guess) that will be an option for you as well.

Are you thinking of the old HTC One X, or the new HTC One that was announced a couple of weeks ago? The new one cleans up in benchmark tests everywhere so far and I would say would be superior in most ways to the Note 2. Yes, HTC have confusing naming schemes.

Can't escape the battery life of the Note 2. Makes all the difference to me at least.

Yes the upcoming "One '', I'm currently using the desire hd, but my head is wrecked charging it. I was drawn to the notes big screen and superior battery but then the HTC appeared. I don't know now.

If it's good battery life you're after then the Note 2 is an amazing piece of kit. I get a good two days per charge. That's with about 7 hours plus of screen on time.

Can't say how the HTC One will compare in that respect.

How do find it as regards wear and tear on the device. Do you use a screen protector and or case.? I'm looking at it from all angles.

Screen protector plus tpu case, guess I'm just paranoid. So still looks like new I guess.

Although it has gorilla glass this can still be scratched/cracked, so I prefer to be safe rather than sorry.

    I've got an upgrade coming to me now. Currently got an iPhone 4s but am looking at possibly switching to the HTC One S;

    http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-s/#specs

The Galaxy Note is a nice phone, but too pricey for me.

Just wondering how people find the One S re. ease of use of the actual phone, emailing (via gmail), web browsing, the quality of photo/video from the camera etc. Just general everyday use really. Battery life isn't really an issue as the phone is charged overnight anyway. Cheers.

The upcoming One looks the business, as stated the Note² has great battery life, but too big for me so I sent it back as it wouldn't fit in my car lol
