Shrinking Playsuit

My boyfriend bought me a playsuit from River Island for our anniversary.

He purchased it just over a month ago but only gave it to me on our actual anniversary last week.

I wore it going out, and washed it according to the instructions on the label and dried it on the radiator.

Lo and behold, when I next try it on a few days later, it has completely shrunk to the point of indecency. I literally cannot wear it, its so short my entire behind is on show, so its unwearable.

Does anyone know of their returns policy, will they take it back? I have the receipt but as its been just over a month since he bought it I'm not sure if they'll accept it. Did anyone else have any luck returning something with a similar fault?

If not, does anyone have any tips for stretching cotton material?

I don't think, from what you have described, that this will work. Maybe the mistake (if there was a mistake) was drying it on the radiator. How hot was the radiator?

Anyway, I would try soaking it for at least a day in cold water, then drying it naturally (hanging vertically from the shoulder seams using plenty of pegs on both sides).

Probably best to just bring it back though (although if you do the above cold soak etc. first, it might not appear to have shrunk so much, which might be a good thing when returning it). Just don't tell them about the radiator!

Disclaimer: I found this thread via New Posts. For the record, I only own a single onesie, and that is a motorcycling under-suit which has a velcro trapdoor in the rear. It still fits (where it counts).

This has happened me before but with a topshop playsuit.. Take it back with your receipt and explain that you followed the instructions etc and it still shrunk. The staff in topshop were very understanding to me and took back my playsuit no problem! :)
