chemical cleaner for blue black limestone sills

we have bought & fitted blue black limestone sills on the front of our new build. We have also had stone work done on the front & unfortunately the sills are now badly stained. I had the rep out from the company we bought the sills from & he said the problem was caused by run off from the cement/mortar in the stone work. he was unable to advise what we could do or to recommend any sort of cleaning agent that might help remove the stains. his advice 'Perhaps you could try an internet search for a supplier.'

has anyone come across this before? I find it hard to believe that this is a one off situation & I'm really hoping that someone can recommend something we can try using to remove the stains

Hi,

I was searching for something similar when i seen your post, i was anxious about the dust etc gathering up on the sills. This link provides some tips on cleaning and maintaining the sills, but it doesnt really give much on removing stains as such. But i would avoid a chemical cleaner as you suggest in your post, just in case. As they will naturally wear too and will look great in time regardless.
