almost every time i try to open a link on a web page the page freezes for bout 20 seconds, then a box pops up sayin
    a runtime error has occured
    do you wish to debug?

    line:135
    error: server execution failed

    yes no

but when i hit yes it says i cant debug and the link still wont open...
what can i do to fix this?

You can't do anything, it's up to the maintainer of the website to fix it. Look for a contact link on the website so you can report the problem

Take a screen shot of the window and post it. It looks wrong.

Is Visual Studio running in the background?

Assuming you're running IE, click Tools, Internet options, Advanced tab. Then depending on which version of IE you're running you'll want to either untick the option that says "display a notification about every script error" or tick the optino that says the opposite if that's there instead (if you had actually told us what version of IE and Windows you were running (cough) you'd get exact instructions)

That gets rid of the popup box. Whether the page actually opens after that if another story

By the way, your post is a bit ambiguous. Does this happen for all links (in which case it's a browser issue) or just for one particular link? (in which case it's a website issue)

    alright...

i've XP Professional... IE is, i dont have a sfuking clue. might be 1.1(if that makes sense)

the only link on this site thats sfuked is the rep link, but the problem happens frequently on several(most) other sites...

this is exactly what it says... word for word
    A Runtime Error has occurred.
    Do you wish to Debug?

    Line: 135
    Error: Server execution failed

    Yes No

Yeah that's a common enough error on poorly designed websites. The advice someone gave above for changing Internet explorer settings should work for those ones where the warning comes up but the site works anyway. As for the one where it's ****ed, there's nothing you can do personally other than chase down the website owner. Had the same problem on a job applications site a few days back, half the links on the page threw up script errors and I couldn't access those parts of the site.

i would recommend you would reinstall IE ... if the problem "happens frequently on several(most) other sites..."

so try re-installing explorer .. readme

    or better yet install Firefox

you can even point your IE icon at it (this has saved me soooo many "The internet is broken" phone calls from my Mum !)
