Did anyone notice that since the M50/N3 interchange has been finished that the first blanchardstown exit is extremely dangerous?
So, driving from town to blanch, once you go over the M50 bridge you hit this 4 lane...thing where cars from the m50 are trying to get into the left lane for blanchardstown and cars from town are trying to get into the right lane for later exits and every other day theres a collision!

Think the NRA will have to do something about it as its lethal at the moment...

I pass through every morning, coming from the M50 and I've never seen a collision. A slow-down, sure, but not a collision. Do you hit the intersection in the evenings?

The worst behaviour I've seen is cars coming onto the two N3 mainline lanes, from a standing start, to try and overtake a chunk of the queue for the exit. They often end up parked on the N3 mainline.

Either way, the problem is that the off-ramp itself for Blanchardstown cannot cope with the arrival rate of cars since the M50 was upgraded. They'd be better off forcing the traffic from the M50 freeflow to take the second Blanchardstown exit by putting a soft divider (like parts of the N4 around Lucan). This might worth consideration once the upgrade of the second junction is complete. All traffic from the M50 could still use the old roundabout to access Blanchardstown 1.

Seen a collision yesterday, and a breakdown today (I hope it was a breakdown, otherwise the lady was just stopped in the middle of the road on her phone!! :pac: ).

I guess collisions are rare enough.

How would cars coming from the n3 stay on the n3 if theres a divider though? Theyd have to go into blanchardstown and get onto the n3 again there?

personally I find the road to be fine and the drivers to be the ones that are extremely dangerous, what you have there is a fairly standard merging/diverging situation which is common the world over such as on cloverleaf interchanges where traffic has to merge and diverge on a short stretch of road
