I'm interested in buying a used car in Dublin, and I'll be looking to get the car checked. Can anyone recommend a mobile mechanic that will provide a fairly comprehensive and independent check on the car? The car has only been owned by the seller ((private)) since June of last year, and he hasn't had to service it yet....

The car was originally an import from the UK, has been irish registered and taxed since June 2012 and seller says he has the HPI check that he did when he bought it - should I still get motorcheck/cartell to do another check on it?

    Anything else I should do?

Cartell are tied in with HPI in the UK, so you should be able to get a fairly comprehensive history for the vehicle that covers it's time over there.

As for it's time here, the information will be limited enough, but a good inspection goes a long way.

Never accept the bona fides of somebody else's history report.Paper never refuses ink and all that...

Maybe you would have to ask why are they selling it after only 7 or so months.

For your own piece of mind get another check done,it might cost a few euro but could save you a fortune...
Check the log book and natch it to car..(who ever is looking at the car for you will be able to help)
    Ask for any UK history..
What car are you looking at?
