This is in relation to the libel cases mcalpine is bringing in England, regarding twitter comments.
Does a persons location when making a defamatory comment impact on a defamation case?
If I say X is a thief ( when X isn't ) in Ireland that's not ok. But if I was in us it'd be ok
So if I wrote it on twitter while in us what would happen?
Or if I was in uk and defamed X in Ireland, what would happen?

I'm assuming a us based publisher couldn't be sued here, so it would only concern the author and X

There are some cases that are instructive on this point CJEU in eDate and Shevill v Press Alliance.

In summary, you have a choice. You can sue where the publication occurred or you can sue where the damage accrue/s, that is usually your own centre of interest.
