Arcade Gets! No Pic, No Post!!

So, here is the much sought after Arcade Gets! thread.
No posting PCB's or Cab's without a picture.
No drooling on the keyboard when you see a boudoir shot of your grail cab sitting in someone else's kitchen!
Anyone passing off a boot as the genuine article will be shot, burned, killed, buried, dug up, shot again and finally minced and sold as Lasagne in Tescos!

I should also point out that this is also the A&R Smug Cab Owners Thread, and any smug b@stards out there are welcome to rub their cab based bliss in the faces of other collectors, just to point out the emptiness the rest of us feel when we see [private.rant] a sit down cab of Virtua Racing in a domestic living room [/private.rant]

Here is 3 of my cabs at the minute, im not posting the others as im still working on them, ill post them up when im happy with them. These have been posted elsewhere before so nothing new. ill post up the pcbs i have later on too.

The one that started it all, mame cab i built from scratch, with hyperspin running on it. took me a year to make this. it could do with a crt as it only has an lcd in it and glass instead of that plexi, but to be honest i dont really use it now i have other cabs. I call it the Jukebox, because thats pretty much what it gets used for! I have over 100gb of music on it and use SDKJukebox which is great. Handy for when we have people over and are having a few drinks.

    arcade1.jpg

This is the second cab i bought, its an Atari Nova Big Boy. I bought it off a guy in mullingar not working, the screen wasnt working. came with StreetFighter 2 world warrior, Tetris and street fighter 3 alpha. It originally was in bits, but i filled it, sprayed some bits and got all the artwork you see on it printed. I have SF2CE in it now too. Sent the chassis to grant in england and he sorted it out. Everyone should have a SF2 Cab!

    arcade3.jpg

This game ive mentioned before i got off Logie, it had icade artwork on the side and a virtual fighter cpo and marquee as far as i can remember. needed a bit of work, the crt had a big degauss issue so sent that off too and got the cabs replaced. works fine now. got all the artwork printed off again and stuck it on with new tmolding. always wanted a donkey kong cab and this is about as close as i think ill ever get. Too lazy to paint it blue so got my mate to print off all the blue you see on there. It has a 60-1 board in there.

    arcade2.jpg

As i fix up the others ill post them here, waiting on the game and gun for time crisis along with a few little fixes it needs on the cab itself. Currently putting artwork and spraying a Electrocoin Xenon into a dedicated Tetris cab and im still trying to fix up the Original Space Invaders Cocktail i have too. I need to just pick one and finish it as at the minute im juggle three and getting nothing done.

I also have about 6 more cabs to sell off too! And a moon base cocktail to get to.

If we're talking PCB aesthetics, I think this is my favourite out of the ones I have. A Data East game called Desert Assault. It's a horizontal Mercs clone.

The board itself is massive and it's absolutely mint.

    DSC_0105-2_zpsd85f564f.jpg

It just screams excess. Look at all the chips!

    DSC_0103-2_zpsf745d863.jpg

    Three banks of dip switches!

    dip_zps10c36690.jpg

And not only that, there are two PCBs, both the same size.

    DSC_0110_zpsac4b6d22.jpg

What makes this strange is that the bottom PCB has the chips on the showing side. I only realized this when taking the photos! I'd been sitting the board on this side without any legs. Just popped some on to be safe.

No one posts their Arcade stuff :(

Let me show you the woody I had in the kitchen and is now at a friends house, the most common brand of generic Jamma cab here in Holland was the " Royal System " that was found everywhere , usually boring black but this one had some really nice artwork and a brand new 19" monitor .

Let me leave you with this Sexy picture to round it off :pac:

Mortal Kombat pcb and sound board. Not pictured is a power cable that connects the two. Nor is a volume pot that I had to put together myself.

The main board would be on the larger size of standard boards but the extra sound board really makes it a beast.

The mk2 board has a small daughter board attached to the main board along with the sound board!

Does Mortal Kombat run one or two buttons through the kick harness?

    I've a horrible feeling it's two...

Would be great if it was only 1 and the other 4 came via jamma as I'd be able to play it in my cab and only be one button down.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,393 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Id say its two, a standard jamma harness only uses the 3 buttons doesnt it? I know the SF2 kick harness i have has 3 extra buttons for each player, hence the "kick" harness i guess

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭TechnoFreek

Two buttons through the kick harness. Standard jamma on the first three.

Need all 5 though really as different special moves need different buttons. Not as uniform as SF

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

Jamma actually naively caters for a four button setup...its down to the game how it handles the fourth button though

Neo geo pulls a 4th button through jamma. I was hoping that as MK was only 5 buttons maybe they'd do something similar! Wishful thinking :(

To be honest I'm a bit Arcade Shmup tired at the moment and am playing more on my 360 and watch movies in the spare time I have but that will turn around again, it always does .
Selling them would mean buying them again later and usually for a lot more .

I'm still going to play some Outzone later this weekend .

The Neo games? They all play all horizontal by default! Even the vertical shooters.
    No need to tate

Be surprised if there was, MVS are all hori aren't they. Would look cack imo.

If I'm understanding you correctly that is - you want to rotate the hori games to play on your vert monitor?

A lot of fighters on the cart alright and a good chunk of them are hacks and bootlegs which may give an unfair impression.

There are some quality fighters on there like Mark of the Wolves, last blade, art of fighting.

One annoying thing with the fighters is that they all use 4 buttons and many of us with candy cabs have a 2 rows of three button config.
That leaves the fourth button for neo sitting on its own.

Be nice to have a 4 in a row button layout for the neo games.
Or better yet, a dedicated neo cab!

best games on it in my opinion are
    -neo turf masters
    -neo world cup 98
    -battle flip shot
    -puzzle bobble
    -spin master
    -strikers 1945

I haven't played them all yet tho.And in fairness they all play extremely well
(I think theres 94 different games on it)

Quality game that, love it. Never gets mentioned much. Isn't Strikers the 1945+ version? Not as fond of that as the original and it's sequel. Still ok though.

Along with Turf Masters, I'd add Blazing Star, Andro Dunos and Viewpoint to the best games list. Metal Slug too I suppose.

Love strikers 1945. Also check out Blazing Star.

There was also a good football game can't think of the name of it. Only a few players per side.
