Cool radiators

Can anyone tell me what causes the lower half of radiators to be barely warm, while the top half is hot? I only noticed recently as I had always just touched the top of the radiators if checking them.

It only seems to affect some radiators. The entire system is a year old.

was just going to post the same question, some not all of mine are cold on the bottom and hot on top , whilst ones in the next room are boiling all over. Someone told be it's a build up of sludge within then radiator and it needs to be flushed out, only I don't know how to do this.

As the system is new, I'd say it needs to be balanced, or the pump speed needs to be increased.

Have someone look at your system to see if its a balancing issue or a sludge issue. You won't be able to flush it yourself if it is sludge as you'll need a proper machine and chemicals

It's not sludge. The system is less than a year old.

A poorly setup system could sludge up in less time than that...

4 things can cause this issue, sludge/blockage, incorrect balancing or weak or under-sized circulating pump or finally poor system design.
