    Hi

I am thinking of investing in a decent balance bike for our 2+ year old son.
Really like the idea of the Islabike Rothan http://www.islabikes.co.uk/bike_pages/rothan.html , but not sure if the price is worth it.
    It is expensive.
I have also thought about the b'twin run ride bike in decathlon http://www.decathlon.co.uk/new-run-ride-white-id_8237693.html
Which seems like a really good deal. I would love to hear the opinions from fellow boardsies who have or had either of these and how they got on.
I have read up on the previous threads on these so i am just checking if anyone else has used one since then.
Also as a long shot, if anyone has one that they are looking to move on, i would be interested.

    Thanks
    Rua

We got the Decathlon one last year for our 3 year old and she loves it - flies about the place on it. It's easy to adjust the handlebar and saddle height and there's a good range of adjustment. It's an absolute bargain at £30, though your main problem is going to be getting one without the trip to Belfast.

...although it likely won't fit in a locker.

"What happens if the item I have ordered does not fit into a Parcel Motel locker?

We will notify you by SMS text and Email to let you know if your parcel does not fit into one of the lockers and ask you to contact us to make alternative arrangements, which include onward delivery or an option to collect at our National Distribution Centre in Finglas. Additional Charges may apply in these circumstances. Please refer to our prices explanation page for more information."

It's worse than that I'm afraid. From http://www.decathlon.co.uk/delivery.html:
    Northern Ireland

We are able to deliver only parcels which go through Royal Mail. For all other items and bulky items, we apologize for the inconvenience caused, but unfortunately, we are currently not able to deliver.
Our teams are working on a solution to deliver the whole range to Northern Ireland.

So you won't even be able to get a bike to the NI Parcel Motel depot.

Thank you very much for your replies.
I have sent a mail to Decathlon to see if they have a workaround for delivery.

    Hi
My 6 year old has finally worn out his fantastic Korean made single gear Townsend Raider bike.
After researching the net, I am looking to replace it with a quality bike that has 16-20 inch wheel diameter, 3 speed gripshift gears (or single speed), thin tyre, around 10 kg weight.
Lots of folks recommending the Isla brand. Is there any bike buffs out there that can help me? Or anyone selling an Isla cnoc model or bigger?
    Many thanks

Take a look at the Frog bikes website. They are a UK company and deliver to Ireland. There are also a few shops here that stock them. I got a Frog 55 for my six year old and he loves it. Its under 9kg with a seven speed Shimano revo shift and 20 inch wheels. He has cycled more than 20km on a few occasions .
