Getting started

    Hi guys,

Thinking a lot about buying a car and getting started driving properly. Just started my lessons there last week, so i will still take at least 6 months, but just need some help with buying a car, insurance and the likes.

First off, some information that will be useful:
I am 19 years old, i'll be on my way to 20 by the time I take my full test.
Obviously, I aim to have my full license before buying any insurance (Assuming it will have a massive difference on premium)
Thirdly, since I will have no experience or car outside of driving lessons, I will obviously have no no claims discount.

The first hurdle will be picking a car. Does anyone have any decent suggestions on a low capacity engined car, cheap enough to run and maintain?

Linking in with the above is what I view to be the biggest barrier to me driving: Insurance.
What companies might work out cheap for a driver of my age and with my experience at the full license point. What is the best way to go about this? I have the option of using my brother in law within the policy either as a named driver or me a named driver on his policy on my car, will this work out cheaper and which way of it would work best?

In summary, I'm looking for the best car and insurance with the cheapest costs on a student budget. Any help would be MUCH obliged,

    -brainiac-
