Hi just wondering what approx price is for fitting a timing belt and who around either Naas or Dublin you would recommend.

Not sure when it was last replaced and about 26000km on car.

    Thanks

2005 Mondeo has a chain not a belt.

Thank you. Do the chains ever give trouble or need replacing?

Only very rarely. Generally the only trouble they give is tensioner problems which cause the car to be difficult to start. I never saw one break or slip timing or cause any engine damage so you don't have anything to worry about really.

    ...

The reason i was asking is that I heard my son starting his mondeo this morning ( hard frost ) and it made a loud noise. I was not close enough ( about 100 m away ) to say what kind of noise but he said it only does it when cold.
