Hi , want to brighten up the whole house as im sick of looking at the pine doors and skirting boards. Was thinking of going a cream gloss colour. Question is do I have to use a special undercoat to stop the knots seeping through. Don't want to use normal undercoat and have to do it again in a year or so.
    Thanks
    Dave

Yeah you'll have to seal them knots to stop them bleeding through, there's many different ways, knotting solution or a zinsser primer is prob d easiest. Prob be best getting d primer as whatever u have left come in handy for other jobs, just read d back of the tin when you're buying and it'll tell you which one of their brands seals knots..
If you are painting all your doors cream think about using a satin finish instead of gloss, I think it's a nicer finish..

I am in the same situation, as all my internal doors are solid pine and I am fed up looking at too much pine wood all over the house.

I was thinking of getting them sprayed by a local guy who does wooden kitchen spraying.

Was going to go down that route , but id say it would be cheaper to buy new doors.

Well I got a quote of €30 per door to have them sprayed. I honestly don't think I could buy a door as solid as the ones I have for €30. Maybe a flimsy hollow door.

Thats a good price, be sure to find out what primer they're using for the 1st coat as you don't want the knots bleeding through a few months later..
Is that panel doors you're having done?

Yeah panel doors, was a fella that was advertising on the likes of Gumtree or DoneDeal, showed plenty of examples of his work and been doing it a long time.
