What do you fella's think, I'm looking at buying a car from the UK. I asked if the car had any work done the body work, bumpers or doors and the garage sale's man said NO. I put a deposit down on a Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTI Elite and told him i'll be getting a full inspection of the car done before i commit to the sale. The inspection has been done and there are a few faults with the car nothing major here they are. They had fitted a new clutch and fly wheel.

-Service light remains on.
-Drivers mirror not folding.
-front and rear parking sensors not working.
-Reverse lights not working.
-Drivers heated seat switches off after 2 minutes.
-Rear bumper skirt damaged.
-Rear bumper dropped by appox 2mm.
-Rear seat back outer bolsters loose- especially offside.
-Clutch needs further bleeding.
-slight wheel wobble when driving. (Wheels need balancing)
-New front tyres needed.
-Offside front door protrudes at rear top section and is slightly higher than rear door.
-all wheels have been curbed and need refurb.
-Paint repairs along offside. (doors have been touched up)

-Front brake disc's lipped (advanced) Pads good.
-leather scuff offside rear seat base.

So from this report the rear bumper has been hit and damaged and the has been hit and is not sitting in line with the other doors. so an advice on what to ask when i ring the salesman back.

walk away, clearly been in a accident with all the rear related damage/faults.

Should get your deposit back because seller has lied to you.

Far too much work involved to get it back to a car you would enjoy to be honest, I would be worried any items will haunt to you later on.

take it its very cheap?

Its got more problems than a maths book!
IMHO, shouldn't have put deposit on it before inspection.

The cars selling for £8000 but my budget is around £9000 i'll probably just keep looking. I'll know that it had work done and someone else probably wont see it but i'll know so i'm walking thanks for the advice.

This alone would be a show stopper for me. It's clear this car has'nt been maintained properly if at all. Who knows hiw many other problems are lurking.

Those inspections are top notch - got one done from the AA for the car I bought over there and was really pleased!

The inspection sounds like money well spent anyway, maybe saved you a lot in the long run.

OP is this some reputable dealers, of just someone having few cars in front of his driveway and selling them...
Any chance you could share a link. Or at least PM me a link or at least a dealer?
I'm currently looking for a car in UK, and thought that cars bought from dealers should be pretty safe to buy, but from what I can see here, this is ridiculous.
I would like to see what kind of dealer is it, to see approximately what kind of places should I avoid.

BTW - what was the cost of inspection?

Walk away, it will prob cost you 2k+ to get the bits done
Id say the vrt is a few grand to so keep that in mind

The inspection was £200. He usually charge's £155 but he had a long way to go. http://nationalvehicleinspections.com/

the company is the http://www.dieselcarcompany.com/ they have told me early that they've fix all the electrical problems. The clutch has been blead, wheels are getting done and the other stuff will be done. But it's the door not sitting right and the bumper that's putting me off. i'll get another phone call tomorrow and i'll question them some more

OP here are two that are a bit outside your budget but looks alot tidier than the one you have described. Any reviews I have read about Cargiant have been positive too:

Don't call again tomorrow, just walk away.

If they don't fix everything perfectly, how hard will it be to get it remedied?

Yea I've heard cargiant are good but their car's are just a bit more than what i can spend.

Walk away and fast, they lied straight off so even though they have repaired some of the issues they don't deserve to be dealt with. God knows what else is up with that car as they aren't going to tell you the truth anyway.

What year are you looking at? I was onto a lad in NI have bought a few cars and a few on here have bought off, PM me if you want his contact.
Cargiant have a great rep.
So don't be afraid to spend even a couple of 100 more to get a better quality motor.

In that case I would hold out until you have a bit more money or the cars drop in value. No point in buying a car which sounds like it has had a colourful past just because it is within budget.
