Helicopter Hire Cost

    Hi All,

A friend of mine has a disability. I'd really like to them to come to an event coming up and with a bit of combined funding, I think a few of us (friends) could fund a helicopter transfer for them.

However, I've searched through the various websites and information is thin on the ground.

Do any of you have any info on what a helicopter would cost to hire to a venue and back these days (for one person). Current thought is Cork-Sligo return.

    All help appreciated.

It would be unusual for an rate to be quoted on an operators website. There are many variables involved including the transit time to point of pick up, transit from point of drop off. Your quote would be processed according to your individual needs. Judging by your particular requirements, it might not be cheap.

Your best course of action is to google "Ireland helicopter charter" and get on the phone. There are not many operators left these days. They will be glad to hear from you. Good luck!

I highly doubt that you could get it just for one person, usually the hire rate covers the entire heli. You would need someone close as ferry time is expensive. Give gealic heli's a call

Think the smallest they have is a jetranger, 4 passengers (you would want to be short if you are stuck in the back middle seat). Not sure what it will cost but should be a lot cheaper than it was 5 years ago

I don't think the cost of flying has gone down recently. Gone up if anything. Not that I know as I don't pay for it anymore!

But no doubt the mark up has gone down.

Executive helicopters based somewhere in Galway might help. They're halfway between the two places. A Robinson R44 might be cost effective but they also have a turbine chopper which was out and about recently.

    Eglinton,

Your best bet is Skywest Aviation based at Cork Airport. They have R22s and R44s. If its going to be more than one person they will use the 44. I'm sure they will help you out.
